The Most Unique Airbnb Stays in Bali
Where to stay when you want to avoid the big resorts and truly experience the island
A few years ago, my boyfriend and I went on a holiday to Bali, and that was the trip that made me realise I had to start living more consciously.
I am used to fishing off Sydney, and the water is unbelievable. Even from the harbour, it can be hard for some people (me included) to understand the damage of plastic pollution when we don’t see it.
On that trip, I saw guys cleaning the beach every morning, removing plastic that had washed off on the beach overnight. They would do it really early, so that tourists could just wake up to a beautiful, clean beach. Then, we went fishing on a traditional boat, and as we were driving out, I started seeing the plastic. I had my feet in the water and plastic bags would get caught in them. We actually caught more trash than fish on that trip. That was my wake up call.
Bali has introduced a plastic ban last year, and they are working on becoming more eco-friendly. The island has suffered a lot last year, between volcanoes and earthquakes, and developed a bad reputation for mass tourism and lack of authenticity.
But The Balinese people rely immensely on tourism to survive too, and I believe it deserves a “Second Chance”
So I have scrolled for hours to find you the most unique Airbnb Stays in Bali, so you can experience the Island in the most authentic way and make the most of this beautiful, enchanting island.
